The Spanish Super Cup (1st Leg)
Football season has started again and what a treat for football fans to see probably the greatest rivalry in football go up against each other in a 2-legged tie for the Spanish Super Cup.
Last season, Barcelona got the better of Real Madrid winning 4 of the 5 meetings they had and losing only once resulting in another Champions League and Spanish League Trophy for the Catalan giants. Real Madrid on the other hand took home the Copa Del Rey after a very hard fought battle with Barcelona.
The 2011-2012 season looks very promising for the Whites with all their new signings to strengthen there already formidable squad. They won all their preseason matches in their tour of the United States and China by huge margins giving them lots of confidence coming into the new season.
Coming into the first leg, Real Madrid were really up to the task of showing Barcelona that they can give them a good challenge this year. The game started brightly for the Whites who drew first blood via a counter attack allowing Mesut Ozil to score, 1-0 to Real Madrid. They kept on pressing for a second but they were just unfortunate not to get the second goal on the board. Barcelona’s prized striker, David Villa, had different plans. After receiving a beautifully weighted pass, he cut back to his right against Madrid’s Sergio Ramos and he unleashed a very lethal strike that sailed over Iker Casillas and to the top right corner of the goal; 1-1.
Minutes before the end of the 1st half, the brilliance of Lionel Messi shined again as he got past the towering defense of Real Madrid and place the ball at the back of the net, 2-1 to Barcelona heading into the half.
Madrid started the second half as they did in the first. And after bombarding the Barcelona goal with shots, they were finally rewarded when Pepe laid the ball back to Xabi Alonso. Alonso unleashed a low hard strike that got past the defense and Victor Valdes and into the back of the net; 2-2. The whites had their chance to take the lead but to no avail.
The game ended in a 2-2 draw.

Weird Weather
Global warming? Perhaps. For the past few days, the weather here in Manila has just been really weird. Last Sunday (July 24), I had a couple of football games played at exactly opposite climates. The morning game in Alabang was just really hot and the afternoon game at the University of the Philippines was really wet. What’s happening to the world? In just a span of a few hours, from the scorching heat of the sun, Mr. Rain decides to pour down. Crazy crazy weather.
Earlier today, classes were suspended yet again due to heavy rains. Too bad we started class already so we just pushed through with the routine and ended the day with three of the Koalas having their Show and Tell on what their favorite food with cheese was. After which, one by one, the little ones were picked up by their grown ups and just a handful of them were left. Here they are! :)
Will there be classes tomorrow? I hope so. I wanna be around these little ones and of course their other friends too! :)

24 and 6
24. That’s my age as of today and I thank the Lord for all the wonderful and unpleasant things that has happened to me after all those years.
6. The number of years Trish and I have been together.
I just wasn’t that happy ‘cause I wasn’t able to celebrate my, our special day together. Well I have to wait ‘til December to get to hold her again. Happy anniversary Beb! I know you’ll do well in Australia! I love you! :*
Some of the gifts I got for my birthday. Cards from my students, a notebook, a card from Trish, and a compilation of pictures she made. I just miss her so much. Oh well. I also got Rustan’s GC’s from my parents and a yellow Swatch Watch from Trish! Thank you for all the greetings! Thank you for the mini surprise I got from my partners at work! I love you all! :)
